Now, what are the “equipment and operating capabilities” mentioned by that ARRL committee that most of us already have? I.e. what do you need to make this emergency email text message system work? Answer - radio, antenna, and computer.
Our first experiments in Conway sending radio email text files used this old HT to send the simulated emergency email message traffic from a laptop. The HT was held next to the computer speakers as the software program generated audible tones to transmit the email text file to a local repeater.
