This is a SSTV type photo of the storm surge damage from Katrina in the Back Bay of Gulfport-Biloxi, Mississippi where I was after Katrina back in 2005. One bonus of our radio email text file experiments in Faulkner County in 2007 was the sending of photos by radio using SSTV software. The potential here really opened my eyes after receiving a perfect copy of a photo using a software program that was (1) free and (2) that I had never used before. At the urging of W5GHC, I merely started the program on my laptop computer and received a photo (not this one from Katrina, but it could have been) using only the audible tones captured by the laptop mic. This was all done automatically. I had never used the SSTV program before and did not know to use it, but he results were automatic and perfect. The computer program captured the audible tones and converted them into a photo on the screen.
