Successful Tests
Slide 11 of 16
Here are the results of our experiments in Conway in sending simulated emergency email text files. Remember this is 100% copy with no errors – the message is sent by “cut and paste” so no reading or transcription errors are generated. The HT used the local repeater while the mobile rigs were powerful enough for simplex use over many miles. All simulated emergency traffic involved mixed voice and data QSOs on the same frequency.
This same method (laptop soundcard tones to send and computer mic to receive) has been used by AE5EE for worldwide HF PSK31 QSOs. Unlike the emergency email tests, those QSOs were in the PSK portion of the band plan using no more than ten watts into a G5RV antenna.
