Identification Cards - Frankie Parks

Frankie has the new club ID cards. Some of them aren't finished. But you can check with him to see if he has your card. If you haven't signed up for a card yet, what we need is name, callsign, ARRL membership status, class training you've completed, such as ICS (Incident Command) 100, 200, 700, 800, any ARRL emergency or other courses, and Skywarn. All the class information will be put on the card. For the members that didn't get to attend the meeting, please send your information to Craig Mangrum at ctmangrum@conwaycorp.net. The ICS (Incident Command System) courses can be found on the club's website: www.w5auu.org.

Gerald Hogue's Antenna

After several weeks of trying to get Gerald's antenna up, several members finally made it happen.

Field Day 2007 Updates - Wayne Johnston

Field Day is quickly approaching. Several details are ironed out now. Wayne was out of town this week, but had sent many of the details the club has decided to Frankie. Frankie informed the club of those details.
This year we are going to hold Field Day on Hendrix University's campus. We are going to be on the southwest corner of campus across from the railroad tracks. The campus is normally closed to the public during the Governor's School, but the public will be allowed in the Field Day area. We will have restroom access in the building next to this spot. On Saturday, the club will have lunch for everyone present. Since we are not allowed to have any grills on the campus, it was suggested that we do a large tray of sandwich meats. Randy Harrington made a motion to do this and Craig Mangrum seconded it. Perry Carleton volunteered to do the shopping. The club will supply the meat tray, soft drinks, and anything else needed. On Saturday night, we will have dinner in the cafeteria. Since we have to have a count of those that plan to eat dinner, only those that plan to attend the invited guests will be allowed in the cafeteria. Each member will need to pay for their own meal that night. Craig will send out an email and also have a signup sheet at the next club meeting for the Saturday night dinner.
Most of the equipment needed has been covered. George Carroll volunteered to get a write-up in the paper before Field Day. Glenn King is going to see about a video public service announcement for Conway Corp., and Craig Mangrum is going to see about getting an audio version for the local radio stations.
We are going to run a 2A setup this year. We will have one station setup as an experimental station and one station dedicated to contesting. We will also have a Get On The Air (GOTA) station. Members will be able to bring antennas and other things they want to try out and use the experimental station to try these things.
Proposed guests for Field Day include the following: Fire Chief, Sheriff, Police Chief, Director & Assistant Director 911/OEM, Mayor, County Judge, and the President of Hendrix. Loyd Hartsel, Security Chiefs from UCA, Hendrix, and CBC, David Huddleston, the SEC and DEC, ARRL President, Gilbert Baker. We will also get the names and addresses of all officials in Faulkner County from the 911 Center so we can send invitations to everyone on that list as well.
Again, Field Day will be June 23rd and 24th. Please come out and participate and enjoy all the fellowship.
The official website for Field Day is http://www.arrl.org/FieldDay.
