President, Chester Robinson, N5MEF, called the meeting to order at 18:24.

Faulkner County Fair Parade
Glenn King, N5GK, gave out the details about this year's fair parade. The parade will be at 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 in downtown Conway. Glenn asked that all volunteers start showing up at 2:00pm. There will be a meeting for all volunteers at 3:00pm at the central fire station at the corners of Locust and Caldwell. At the meeting the assignments, vests, maps, and card with everyone's name and callsign will be handed out. We will assign a volunteer on every corner of the parade route. Glenn is going to place a repeater at MEMS downtown. Everyone is to use 146.970 (tone 114.8) to communicate. If there are problems with the repeater, everyone will need to go to 146.520 simplex. If you arrive late, please call for the Net Control Operator for you assignment and any other details.
Big Dam Bridge 100 Bike Race
Jerry Dixon, N5WVI, and his wife, Pat Dixon, N5ZSN, from the C.A.R.E.N. club in Little Rock came to the meeting to discuss a few events they need help with. The first is the Big Dam Bridge bicycle race that will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2006. This race will be coming through Faulkner County. Jerry said they need volunteers from our club to be checkpoints. The current volunteers include Roger Williamson, N5QNA, Marlene, KE5HQU, and Brian, N1WNC, Kessler will cover the Otto, Highway 107, and Fortson area, Frankie Parks, K5FRP, Will McFadden, KB5DDX, Glenn King, N5GK, and possibly Craig Mangrum, N5CTM. Additional volunteers are needed.

Arkansas Traveler 100 Race
Jerry also spoke about the Arkansas Traveler 100 bicycle race that is taking place on October 7-8, 2006. They will start the race at 6:00am on Saturday 7th and it will end around 12:00pm on Sunday 8th.

Simulated Emergency Test (SET)
Glenn King, N5GK, said he didn't have any new details on the SET that is to take place in October. The SET will center around an earthquake disaster. When more details are available, they will be emailed to all club members.
Jamboree On The Air (JOTA)
Jon McFadden, N6VC, spoke to the club about JOTA that is coming up. It will take place October 21-22, 2006. There are about 300 Boy Scouts, about 8yrs old, that will be there this year. Operating times will be Saturday 21st from 12:00pm until 4:30pm and then on Sunday 22nd from 9:30pm - 11:45pm. No frequencies have been decided on at this time.
Jon has asked the club to help with this event. If anyone wants to signup or has any questions about the event, you can email Jon. You can look up his address on the club's website www.w5auu.org. Jon also said there will be an astronomy event and that anyone that would like to help with that is also welcome. Again, email Jon for those details.

Wayne Johnston Honored
Club president, Chester Robinson, N5MEF, presented Wayne Johnston, KD4TA, with a certificate from the club thanking him for all the hard work he put in on the 2006 Field Day event.
Items For Sale At Hamfest
Items that are left over from a donation will be available at the Arkansas All-State Hamfest on September 16th, 2006. Frankie Parks will be in charge of the table. There may be a need for some club members to take over throughout the day. If you attend the hamfest, please check with Frankie to see when he may need a substitute.
Club's 2-Meter Net
As mentioned below, please remember the club has a 2-meter net every Thursday starting at 7:30pm on 145.210 (tone 114.8). The club needs volunteers each month to be net control operator. This is a great way to train for the possibility of an emergency or for a large event such as the fair parade. All members are urged to do one month. Please contact Frankie through the club's website, www.w5auu.org, to volunteer.
The net control operator for October is Daniel Gladstone, KE5ERL, and for November, Craig Mangrum, N5CTM.
Jim Durham, N5UXX, made a motion to adjourn and was seconded by David Doty, N5XF. Meeting adjourned at 7:11pm.

The FCARC net meets each Thursday night at 7:30pm on 145.210MHz PL 114.8Hz. The Net Control Operator for July is Frankie Parks, K5FRP.
Don't forget about lunches at Smitty's BBQ on Fridays at around 11:00 am till we leave.
