MEMS Equipment Update

Getting the equipment for MEMS is still underway. Perry was told that a dual band antenna was needed for the Conway Location. MEMS should be picking up the cost of this.

Technician Level Class Update

There were 6 people taking the technical level class that Glenn King, Frankie Parks, and a few others are teaching. Everyone passed their test. So be sure to congratulate and welcome all these new hams.

Hospital Update

The hospital is in the process of remodeling their communications room.
After they are done, the club will need to go over and reposition the station, get it mounted, and get it fully programmed.

Toad Suck Daze Special Event Station

The Toad Suck Daze special event station went pretty good this year. The bands didn't really cooperate again this year, but the club was still able to make some contacts. Four people have responded and requested certificates so far. Thanks to Perry Carleton for climbing the tower and getting the antennas up.
There was some discussion on how to improve the event for next year. One suggestion was that the club operate from the Conway Corporation parking lot. This would allow the club to be in the public's eyes and bring more attention to the hobby. Another suggestion was to talk to the Little Rock Races group about borrowing their crankup tower. Also it was suggested that we have some publications to pass out to those interested.

Field Day 2005 Update

Field Day is June 25-26 this year. The event will be located at the ADEM's facility on South Donaghey again this year. It was decided that the club would do the same foods as last year, sandwiches, doughnuts, cookies, chips, and drinks. Also, it was discussed how long the club wanted to operate and how many stations to setup. The club decided to shoot for another 24 hour operation with 2 stations if enough people volunteer.

New Business

New Repeater Antenna

Glenn King mentioned that the club's 146.970 antenna needs to be replaced. Glenn suggested a DB224 that would run about $500. Glenn is going to look at the Dayton hamfest for a better price. Glenn also said he had talked to the tower crew and they said they would climb the tower and replace the antenna for us for around $200, but that they would probably donate the money back to the club. Ken Chafin moved to go ahead and authorize all of this. Jim Grinder 2nd . All were in favor and the motion carried.

Faulkner County Communication Center Update

The new communication center has the new Kenwood dual band radio and antenna to be installed. Glenn mentioned that he had to wait on a bracket before the equipment could be installed.

Meeting adjourned at 19:06.
