Partnership with MEMS
Perry Carleton talked to us about some of the things MEMS wants to do in conjunction with our club. Ken and Tony from MEMS were at lunch last Friday and talked to us. They are offering us an office to operate from and will also issue us badges. When they get a station setup, they have invited us to come and operate when there are emergencies or severe weather. Perry is going down to the Little Rock MEMS office to talk to them about what is needed and what we can do for each other when needed. Perry is also going to invite some of them to our December meeting.
ARES/RACES Phone Tree
Craig Mangrum spoke about the need for more ARES/RACES volunteers for the phone tree. We still only have about 6-8 volunteers.
Local Skywarn Spotters Class
Chuck Olson said he had e-mailed John Robinson from the National Weather Service about Skywarn Classes. John said there was one scheduled January 11th in Conway at the Old McGee Center that is now the fire station downtown. Chuck is going to check and see if this class is open to the public or just for emergency personnel.
AREA/RACES Activation for Clinton Library Opening
Glenn King mentioned that next week, starting this Saturday, will be the Clinton Library opening. All ARES/RACES volunteers are asked to be on STAND-BY next week from Wednesday the 17th Friday the 19th. Craig was going to send an e-mail Wednesday morning the 10th to let all FCARC members know about the need. It might be a good idea for everyone to monitor the 146.940- Little Rock CAREN club repeater and also the Conway FCARC club 146.970- 114.8pl repeater. ADAM/OES has also asked for volunteers to come help out.
Membership Drive
Frankie Parks also mentioned an idea for a membership drive. He has designed a QSL card with all the club information on it. He has pulled up a list of all the hams in Faulkner county and is willing to send cards to all these hams. The club will support Frankie on this and help with the expense.
Craig Mangrum made a motion to adjourn and it was 2nd by Frankie Parks. The meeting was adjourned at 19:47.
Club Office Elections/Nominations starting
There is a lot to cover at next month's meeting. Please make plans to attend. We will be selecting officers, start taking membership dues (this will run through February), making ID badges, and a lot more. Frankie Parks has already been nominated for the office of Vice President. The club's activities are really picking up. If you haven't been taking part in the club lately, now would be a great time to recommit to it. We could use the help. And you are missing out on a lot of the fun we've been having.
No testing was held.
Don't forget about lunches at Smitty's BBQ on Fridays at around 11:00 am till we leave.
